The Firebird Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and advancing the Firebird SQL database, an open-source relational database management system. Firebird offers many ANSI SQL standard features and runs on Linux, Windows, and a variety of Unix platforms. Firebird is capable of handling databases from just a few KB to many Gigabytes with good performance and almost free of maintenance. The foundation's website, https://www.firebirdsql.org, serves as a hub for the community where users can download the software, access comprehensive documentation, and get the latest news updates about the project. The site also provides resources for developers, including forums, a wiki, and a tracker for bug reports and feature requests. It is also the place for users to obtain support and exchange knowledge on best practices and implementation experiences. The Firebird Foundation supports its goals through memberships, donations, and sponsorships from individuals and companies that benefit from the use of the database.
