Clever vs. LessonUp

Clever was born of co-founder Dan Carroll’s frustration as a school tech director in Denver. His plans to use technology to save teachers time and personalize learning were stymied by countless CSV files and forgotten passwords. Dan recalls, “I wanted to be an innovator, but I got stuck being a human API.” Software has the potential to empower teachers and create new ways to learn. But one thing must happen first. LessonUp is an interactive teaching platform that helps teachers create, deliver and assess lessons in one place. Teachers can build lessons from scratch or use ready-made resources, add interactive elements such as quizzes (multiple choice, open questions, word clouds, hotspots and more), and check understanding in real time. Built-in AI tools help generate quiz questions, lesson content and ideas in seconds, saving preparation time. LessonUp combines lesson creation, student interaction and formative assessment in a single, easy-to-use platform.
